Obituary for Winni Ruth Gardner

Winni Ruth Gardner was born the 1st child of James Cain (deceased) and Florine Robinson (deceased) on March 30, 1948. She received Christ under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Thomas at New Nazareth Baptist Church. She met and married Curtis Maurice Gardner on Summer of 1966. To this union was born 1 child.

Ms. Winni Ruth Gardner, "Ruth" confessed Christ at an early age as a member of New Nazareth Baptist Church. Because of her love for Christ and dedication to her church she served as the President of the Matrons, which was later converted to the Mission Board, until she became ill.

In 1966, Ruth graduated from George Washington High School and moved to Chicago,IL. While residing in Chicago she attended Career Academy where she received her Medical Assistant Degree and Malcolm X University where she received a Medical Technician Degree.
She later returned to Alabama to pursue her career and continue her education. In 1989, she accepted a job as a Laboratory Techician with the State of Alabama Department of Forensic Science, as the first and only African American woman. While working for the State of Alabama Department of Forensic Science, she was recognized as Employee of the Year in 1989 and received numerous certificates of achievement. After many years of employment Ruth retired from the State of Alabama.

She was preceded in death by Flora Jane Thomas and Onola Thomas, Curtis Thomas #1, Tommie James Thomas, Sidney Barlow, Louise Thomas, and Frank Garner .

She leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving and devoted daughter, Onola Gardner of Montgomery, AL. Sisters, Eloise Singleton, Laura Youngblood (Verbin), Fannie Sellers (Ronald), Barbara Edwards (Woodrow), Elaine Thomas, Dollie Carter, and Gloria Johnson, all of Montgomery, AL. Brothers, Nathan Thomas, Willie (Susie) Thomas, Sherman Thomas, Curtis Thomas, all of Montgomery, AL. Earnest (Angela) Thomas, Gulfport, MS. A very loving and caring aunt, Mrs. Minnie B. Parker of Deatsville, AL. Grandchildren, D’Angelo Gardner, Lakeldrick Gardner, Bruyanna (Bri) Gardner, Cornelius (C) Auls, Jr. and Tracy Pearson, all of Montgomery, AL. A very loving and caring companion, Donald Robinson (Bull) of Montgomery, AL. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and very devoted friends.
