Obituary for Susie Scott Jones

Susie Scott-Jones was born on December 14, 1942 to the late Mr. Willie James and Gercile Bowman Scott in Montgomery, AL. Susie was the fourth of seven children born to their union.
She was baptized at St. John the Baptist Church by Father John Hardman. She attended Booker T. Washington Elementary, Junior High and Senior High graduating in the class of 1962. She met and married the love of her life Johnny (Honey) Jones. Susie furthered her education at Alabama State University graduating in 1968 with a BS degree in Biology and Chemistry. She taught for 3 years in the Dallas County and Selma City School Systems. Continuing to fulfill her life’s goal to become an RN receiving a BA degree iin nursing from Troy State University in Montgomery and a BS degree from AUM. She was a compassionate, dedicated and efficient nurse at St. Margaret’s, Humana, Baptist East, VA in Tuskegee, Jackson Hospital, the Board of Corrections at Bullock and Elmore Counties. She ended her nursing career at the Rescue Home Health Services. Susie was a generous and loving person who virtually met no strangers. She worked very diligently. She retired from the U. S. Air Force Reserves after 23 Years of Service.
Her church organizations include the Ladies of Charity, The Ladies Auxillary of the Knights of Peter Claver, The Hospitality Committee and the Soup Kitchen. She had a great love for her family as well as her church family especially her prayer partners at Our Lady Queen of Mercy. She was an avid fan of the Auburn Tigers, Chicago Bulls, New York Yankees and the Pittsburg Steelers. Susie had a great admiration for flowers and dogs.
Susie was the BEST Wife, Auntie, Sister, Grandmother and God-mother.
Susie is survived by 2 sisters, Kathaleen S. Anderson, Dorothy S. (Walter) Nichols, Step-daughter, Mekasa Taylor, Step-grandchildren, Vickie and Torey Loftin, Aunt, Lillie Mae Jackson, Uncle, Fred Hudson. 13 nieces; Barbara Lambert, Lamel Bandy (Dave) Neal, Alessandra (Charles) Jones, Adrienne (Bre’) Boudre’. Sophia (Greg) Davis, Marcia Turnage, Kanoschu, God-Child, (Cedric) Campbell, Gercialyn Scott, Jawanica (Keedric) Woodard, LaChandra (Maurice) Lykes, Tiffany (Antwan) Evans, Akashia (Cha’Ron) Murphy and Chiffon Gilmore. 4 Nephews, Renaldo (Phyllis) Nichols, Waldreski (Brenda) Nichols, Chanavous Nichols, Lamar Ellis. Numerous cousins and friends. Special cousins Mildred Hunter Davis, Alma Sankey, and Jackie Jackson.
Special and devoted friends, Ellen Conley, Christine P. Taylor, Jodi Byrd, James Walton and Felicia Orsborne. God-mother, Joyce Nicols, God-Children, Brandon and Shannon Osborne, Tia Byrd, Trevian Moss, Ziqoius Washington.
Susie transitioned peaceful surrounded by her love ones on December 6, 2017. Be at peace Susie. We know that the Angels of heaven welcomed you with open arms.

    So sorry to hear the news of Binky’s passing. I am so glad I had the chance to sit and talk with Binky after all these years at our silver (25 years) Lanier class reunion – he still had as much swag then just like at our time at Lanier. Binky blessed a lot of us with his sense of humor, laid back confidence and his love for sports, especially basketball. May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continue to bless, keep and comfort the King family in their time of bereavement.
