Obituary for Irene Griffin

Irene Griffin was born the 8th child of Ed Hall and Lula Bell Reese Hall on October 5, 1933. She received Christ under the leadership of Reverend Fields at Bell Street No. 1. She met and married Willie Griffin. To this union was born 2 children. Irene loved the Lord she loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and everybody. She loved cooking and was a great cook, she like listening to her gospel, reading her Bible. She loved roses, and planting all types of flowers in her garden. She confessed Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. V.L. Lewis, Clay Street Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her son Curtis Edward Hall , two grandsons, Broderick Griffin, Michael L. Thornton, daughter-in-law, Wanda Faye Cook Hall, sisters, Lucy Mae Sparks, Caroline Thompson, brothers, Jesse Hall, Percy Hall, Robert Houser, Ernest Hall.

She leaves to carry out her Legacy and cherish her memories two devoted caregivers, daughters, Marche' Lanetta Griffin, Christine Denise Hall, three loving sons, Willie J. Griffin, Michael Griffin, Ronald W. Hall, sister Clara Jones, Montgomery, AL, brother-in-law, Elizah Thompson, Clanton, Ohio, daughter-in-law Bonnie Nell Hall, 20 grandchildren; Corwin L. Griffin, Onika Griffin (the late Renaldo) St. James, Kalem (Kavonda) Griffin, Akeem Griffin, Lamika Thornton, Kimberly (the late Kevin) Jackson, Derrell London, Deewayne Hall (Nicholas), Darryl Hall, LaQuanda Hall, Courtney Hall, Shenika Hall, Latarsha (Keith) Howard, Eric Hall, Rondarious Hall, Jaron Hall, Aaron Hall, Lashurnda Hubbard, Kandra Johnson, 30 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors all of them love and appreciate her dearly. A devoted ex-husband, Willie H. Griffin, two devoted grandchildren, Onika Lashawn Griffin St. James and Deewayne Hall and a devoted niece Harrietta Hall Pye, devoted neighbors, Charles and Margie McQueen.

    So sorry to hear the news of Binky’s passing. I am so glad I had the chance to sit and talk with Binky after all these years at our silver (25 years) Lanier class reunion – he still had as much swag then just like at our time at Lanier. Binky blessed a lot of us with his sense of humor, laid back confidence and his love for sports, especially basketball. May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continue to bless, keep and comfort the King family in their time of bereavement.
