Nettie Williams Coleman was born on June 17, 1923 in Union Springs, Alabama to the late Robert and Carrie Williams and was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bryant Coleman, Sr.; sisters, Mary Frances Williams, Amanda Williams Clayton; brothers, John Robert Williams, Norman Williams, Sr.; one grandson , Christopher Fancher.

Nettie began her early education in the Bullock County and Jefferson County public schools. She later matriculated to Tuskegee Institute, earning a degree in Home Economics. She was employed as a teacher with the Montgomery Public Schools (Hayneville Road and Capitol Heights Jr. High Schools), until her retirement. She was a member of the National Education Association and Alabama Education Association.

Nettie was united in matrimony to her college sweetheart, Edward B. Coleman, Sr. They were blessed with three children, Lynn Cheryl, Edward Bryant, Jr., and Robert Adair.

Nettie professed Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age and later joined the Metropolitan United Methodist Church.

Nettie leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Lynn Cheryl Coleman Jackson, Daleville, Alabama; two sons, Edward Bryant Coleman, Jr., Montgomery, Alabama, and Robert Adair (Kimberly) Coleman, Birmingham, Ala., three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Johnston, Margaret Dickinson, Shirley Johnson, all of Montgomery, Alabama; two great grandchildren, a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
