Ms. Mattye Brisbon-Trawick was born on April 20, 1943 in Montgomery, Alabama the youngest of eight children born to the union of the late Henry and Janie Brisbon. Her parents as well as three siblings preceded her in death: James Brisbon, Isaiah Brisbon, and Henry Brisbon, Jr.

She graduated from Georgia Washington High School in 1962 and furthered her education at Alabama State University where she graduated in 1966. She taught school in Alabama for a number of years. After raising her sons, she went to work at Walmart in Georgia. She retired from Walmart after 22 years in October, 2014. After retiring, she moved back to her home town of Montgomery, Alabama where she remained until God called her home on Tuesday, November 24, 2015.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Adrian (Shawndrika) Trawick and Brandon (Janella Crane) Trawick, both of Montgomery, Alabama; three sisters: Elizabeth Patterson, Estelle Bushner, both of Akron, Ohio and Rebecca Croskey of Montgomery, Alabama; sis-in-law Dorothy Brisbon, grand children: Samir Trawick, Chase Trawick, Wyllow Trawick, Jaden Trawick, and Brandon Trawick, Jr., and a host of nephews, nieces, four devoted nieces: Nellie (Penny) Campbell, Dorothy Jean Antone, Peggy Page, and Felicia Smiley, cousins and remarkable friends, Gwen Statton, Cherry Renfro, Barbara Tanner and Elizabeth Long of Decatur, Georgia and Mary Clark of Dayton, Ohio.
