Elder Levy Pettway was born March 11, 1956 to the late Arthur Pettway and Daisy Lee Pettway. He received Christ at Beulah Primitive Baptist Church, under the leadership of Tom Gardner Jr. He met and married Johnnie Louise Pettway on June 16, 1979. They were happily married for 37 years. He entered into the heavenly gates on Monday, April 10, 2017. Elder Levy Pettway received his early education from Sidney Lanier High School. He then furthered his education where he attended Alabama State University both in Montgomery, He also attended Montgomery Bible Institute.

He was ordained as a minister in 1976, and served faithfully until his death. He became the Chef Evangelist at the Pilgrim Rest Association.  In 2017 he accepted the position as pastor at the Mt. Ramah Primitive Baptist Church in Prattville, AL where he served until his death.

He served several years under the Hardee’s Management Corporation. He owned several businesses, such as a barbershop, a restaurant, and a convenient store, all in Montgomery, AL. Levi was the security guard for the Montgomery Public Education System. He was also an employee at the Montgomery Human Society where he retired, after retirement he began working with the Lowndes County Sheriff department under the leadership of sheriff “Big John” Williams.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Cleveland and McArthur Pettway, grandmother, Channie Williams, great niece, Jaquisha Victory Pettway, and mother-in-law, Ethel Lue Stiles.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving and devoted wife Johnnie “Louise” Pettway, Godchildren,  Keyasha, LaKeyliah, and Jaiden Stiles; one brother Jessie (Jaenett) Pettway of Bridgeport, Connecticut; three sisters, Minnie P. Campbell of Strastbury, VA, Channie (Huston), of Montgomery, AL, and Sidney (Clarence) of Prattville, AL, father-in-law Johnny (Mary Bell) Stiles; sisters-in-law Mary and Lena M. Pettway, and Lois Stiles of Montgomery, AL, and Camilla Stiles of Burkville, AL; brother-in-law Tommy (Shirley) Stiles of Montgomery, AL and Stanlakey (Yolanda) Stiles of North Carolina, aunt Loretta Pettway, uncle Willie Pettway, 24 nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and  great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
