His Love-His First Love
We can judge people by what they love, he loved the Lord because he loved Jesus , and he loved his church. Brother Hooks was a member of the Church of Christ for over 60 years. He served in many capacity of the church as Elder, Assistant Minister, and Sunday School Teacher etc. The great question that comes to mind when on dies is this: “Was he ready to go”? We thank God that Bro. Hooks/Bubba/Coach Hooks/Gran…Gran settled ths matter many years ago when he repented of his sins and trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and since that time he has served Christ well, always being true and faithful to the Lord, to his Church and to the highest and best things of life. We hear these words, “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, for they rest from their labors and their works do follow them.
He loved his friends, students, basketball, and football teams, that is the reason why so many of you are present today, he loved you and you know it. Many of you can testify to the strength you gained through that love. Many of you can remember the sweet things he did for you because of that love. He loved his family – He loved his wife, his children and grandchildren and he prayed for all of us and supplied our needs.
His Legacy
Leonard was an amazing teacher and coach, with a rare gift for inspiring people to believe in themselves and reach for the stars. He was a great man, who made a huge difference in the lives of thousands of men and women.
A man who has achieved success through hard work, patience, and sacrifice. A man who lives well, laugh often, and love much. A man who has fulfilled his goals, and accomplished his tasks. A man who has touched the lives of many whom he has come in contact with because of his love for mankind; and his own honest efforts and God’s guidance and support. In his religious life, a firm unwavering belief in God, and in prayers, A life consistant with that belief in himself and for others. In his social life moderation, inhis marriage love. In education that personal contact and direct interest in the individual student by his lofty character, wisdom, knowledge, and experience; but above all by his example. Hooks’ is a man who gained success because of faith in God and himself.
