Emma Ellerby Boggan was born Emma Bell Terry on August 4, 1953 to C.W. and Carrie Bell Terry of Leslie, Georgia. She was the youngest of four children. She was an intelligent, compassionate and dutiful daughter who loved her family.
Emma was a student of the Sumter County School System. She graduated from Union High School in Leslie, Georgia in 1971. She graduated from Georgia Southwestern College on June 6, 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with minor in Sociology.
Emma was a faithful member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Lee County, Georgia when she was younger. She became a member of Elder E.S. McQueen’s New House of Prayer upon moving to Montgomery. After the New House of Prayer closed its doors, God led her to the Light of the World ministries.
Emma married Joseph Boggan on January 24, 1998. They had a loving marriage that endured several strokes and other health concerns. After learning that she had cancer on her birthday, August 4, 2015, God called her home on September 3, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Richmond Terry & Saul Wilson) and a son (Artis Terry). She is survived by her husband (Joseph Boggan), son (Antonio Terry & Daniel Ellerby IV), grandchildren (Candace Terry & Cole Lewis), sister (Mattie/Arthur Bryant), Godsister (Gwen/Eddie Wright), Goddaughter (Thomasina Hardy), special daughters (Angela Terry & Karrie Newcomb) and a host of relatives and friends.
