Annie Laura Crittenden Jones Patton was born November 26, 1922 in Greenville, AL to the late Charlie and Della Payne Crittenden. She completed her mission on this earth and was welcomed into Heaven’s gates on Thursday, June 25, 2015. She confessed her life to Christ at nine years old and joined Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. She immediately started giving of her service and became a Sunday School Teacher at the age of sixteen. She was a diligent and faithful member until her health failed and she moved to Montgomery, AL where she attended Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church with her son. As an educator, she was dedicated to the field of teaching and the overall well being of all the students she touched.
She attended Lomax-Hannon High School until graduation and later attended Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical (A & M) University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Alabama State University for her Master’s Degree in Education. She began her teaching career in Georgia and completed it in Greenville at W.O. Parmer Elementary School where she retired after 36 years of service.
She was joined in holy matrimony to the late IVE Jones and to this union four sons were born. Later she married the late Leroy Patton of Georgiana, AL. She leaves to cherish her memories four sons: Kenneth (Jean), Montgomery, AL; Elston (Jasmine), Dothan, AL; Bertram (Tandra), Montgomery, AL and Hanford (Brenda), Huntsville, AL; eight grandchildren: Kendall, Kendra, Tremain, Lederic, Chantelle, Courtney and Jaevyn Jones, one great grandson; Ace Karter Jones; one sister Willie Eva (Vince) Peagler, Sharon, PA; one brother, Jack P. (Agnita) Crittenden, Montgomery, AL; extended family Paul Edward (Johnnie Mae) Jones, Greenville, AL.; stepchildren: Dollie, Deborah, Kenneth (Yolanda) Patton, Vallejo, CA and Ruth (Estee) Patton-Herndon, Woodbridge, VA. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
